If you love chili, then you won't want to miss this year's Meridian Firefighters Pipes and Drums Chili Cook-Off at the Meridian Speedway. Proceeds from this event will help send the Pipes and Drums team to the Fallen Firefighter's Memorial in Colorado Springs. The tradition of bagpipes at the funeral of a fireman or policeman dates back over 150 years, so let's show them our support at this year's chili cook-off fundraiser.

Our History
Back in October 2008, the firefighter Tony Chance began a piping school in conjunction with The Boise Highlanders. The following year in June the instruments began to arrive, including a custom set of McCallum bagpipes from Glasgow, Scotland. Two months later, in August 2009, a very nervous Meridian Firefighters Pipes and Drums, in casual clothing, performed their first public show at the Meridian Firefighters Association Salmon BBQ. After some fundraising the band was able to purchase kilts. The band sports the Firefighter's Memorial Tartan; a red background and black, green, and gold threads.
